Play area gets new state of the art surface
Published Wednesday 25 January 2017An issue with cats blighting a much-used play area in the Harborough district has been resolved thanks to the district council.
The Devitt Way play area in the village of Broughton Astley has been modernised after some complaints from residents that local cats were fouling in some of the sand-based surfaces.
Harborough District Council stepped in and agreed to carry out some major improvements.
A new, state of the art 'mulch' surface – a soft, flat rubber compound – has now been introduced at the play area, by contractor Play Force Ltd on behalf of the council, replacing the previous sand.
A new piece of ‘roundabout’ play equipment has also been added.
Cllr Neil Bannister, who has responsibility at the council for grounds maintenance said: “I am delighted we’ve been able to carry out this improvement work at this play area. Our proposed budget for next year sets out further improvement works at more play areas across the district, set to benefit local children and their families.”
