Landlords offered expert advice at free event
Published Friday 12 August 2016In collaboration with the National Landlords Association (NLA), Harborough District Council is inviting local landlords to a free forum offering advice about new legislation and other relevant issues.
Under new rules announced by the Government in its Budget last summer, the rate of mortgage interest relief will be restricted to the basic rate of 20 per cent from 2017. In addition, from April this year, landlords have had to pay an extra three per cent stamp duty when buying new property.
Teresa Kaczmarek, NLA Representative for Leicestershire, will deliver a presentation on the recent legislative changes to buy-to-let, as well as an introduction to the NLA and benefits of membership for landlords.
The event is free to attend and will take place on Thursday, 29 September 2016 at 6pm (for 6.30pm) to 8.30pm at Council Chambers, The Symington Building, Adam and Eve Street, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, LE16 7AG.
It will include presentations on a variety of topics, including:
- Damp and Mould: which systems work best to address the problem
- Eviction Notices: an overview of the different ways of serving notices
- Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Licensing: what it means for landlords
Teresa Kaczmarek, NLA Representative for Leicestershire, said: “Whether they are new or already in the business, landlords need to be aware of how they can be affected by recent and upcoming changes to the private rented sector (PRS).
“The NLA would like to help guide landlords on their lettings activities in the Harborough area and how these changes can affect them. Meetings such as these provide an excellent resource to keep local landlords updated and informed.”
Those wanting to attend should book in advance via the NLA website.
