Second ‘Dragon’s Den’ event helps local projects
Published Monday 23 May 2016The second ‘Dragon’s Den’ style event has seen local groups pitching ideas to a panel of funding experts with a view to getting community projects off the ground.
The innovative event, first held last year and organised by Harborough District Council, took place at The Symington Building in Market Harborough and saw community and volunteer groups from the Harborough district invited to share new ideas for possible projects.
The event is inspired by the popular BBC television programme Dragon’s Den, but much more informal and relaxed.
Attendees were invited to pitch their projects to a panel made up of Harborough District Council, Leicestershire County Council, Big Lottery, Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, Leicestershire and Rutland Sport, Charnwood Borough Council, Tesco Ground Works and the Market Harborough and Bowdens Charity.
Feedback from the event was hugely positive with some saying it was a “really good format” and a “very useful workshop to assist in providing further guidance.”
Groups and individuals will meet again with members of the panel over the coming weeks to assess how projects can be taken forward.
