Published Friday 14 August 2015

Gambling establishments, betting shops, and premises with gambling machines are being invited to comment on revised regulations.

Harborough District Council, as the licensing authority, is inviting feedback on its revised ‘Statement of Principles’, under the Gambling Act 2005, which is due for renewal.

The Gambling Act aims to promote more freedom for business operators and customers, whilst clamping down on crime and disorder and protecting children and the vulnerable.

The ‘Statement of Principles’ acts as a guide to determining applications for premises’ licences under the act. The issue of Operators’ Licence and Personal Licences are dealt with by the Gambling Commission.

The district council is inviting gambling establishments, local people and businesses to comment on the draft statement before the closing date of 17 September 2015.

The updated Statement of Principles will be published in January 2016.
