Flag raising event honours our armed forces
Published Monday 22 June 2015A special flag has once again been hoisted above a town centre building to honour our armed forces.
Harborough District Council raised the specially-commissioned Armed Forces Day flag above The Symington Building in Market Harborough on Monday (22 June 2015), together with other organisations, businesses and homes across the country.
The event, which included a ceremony on Church Square in Market Harborough, was hosted by the Chairman of the Council Cllr Mike Rook, and attended by Deputy Lieutenant Neil Townsend, veterans, service organisation representatives, and other guests.
It marked the build up to Armed Forces Day, taking place nationally on Saturday 27 June 2015, which is an opportunity for people to show their support for service men and women, whether veteran or still serving, and celebrate the work they do in support of our country.
The Market Harborough Branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding a Celebration of the Armed Services Community in Welland Park on Sunday 28th June 2015 where there will be stalls, displays and refreshments available.
