Grants given out by council for community projects
Published Tuesday 1 July 2014Projects aiming to improve schools and communities have been given a boost thanks to funding allocated by the district council.
Councillors agreed which projects should be allocated the funding at a meeting of Harborough District Council’s Executive committee on Monday (21 July 2014).
The funding has been made available through Section 106 contributions which are provided by housing developers to support community projects.
The successful projects are:

Fleckney Parish Council – for the provision of two multi-sports pitches – £15,429.50
- Swinford CoE Primary School – for outdoor classroom sheltered area, sensory garden and play equipment - £26,000
- All Saints Church, Scraptoft – to create disabled access for the church and its grounds – £15,000
Cllr James Hallam, who has responsibility for community well-being on the district council said: “There are a number of worthwhile community projects here and we are delighted we have been able to help them out with funding. These projects have received substantial amounts of money and I hope that once these varied and exciting projects come to fruition they will benefit the a lot of people.”
