Harborough District Council has been made aware of a road traffic collision at Foxton Cemetery on Saturday night (10 January 2025) which caused damage to fences, headstones and groundworks.

The incident is reported to have happened between 6pm and 9:30pm when a vehicle left the sharp bend going into Foxton and ploughed into the cemetery.

In the meantime, we understand how distressing this is for relatives, families and the village and we will act swiftly to do all we can to repair the damage caused.”

The council is liaising with Leicestershire Police, who will be recording the incident as a road traffic collision and will be attending the site. The incident will be investigated by the Rural Crime and Heritage Team at Leicestershire Police.
