Local projects benefit from more than £235,000

Over £235,000 has been handed out to a diverse range of community projects thanks to the district council.

The council has allocated Section 106 money to community projects

Harborough District Council’s Cabinet Sub Committee for Grants agreed, on 11 September 2024, to allocate £238,720 to three projects in the Harborough district.

The projects are benefiting from Section 106 money which is provided by developers for community projects and social infrastructure in locations where development has taken place. 

The projects which applied and successfully received funding are:

  • Bowmen of Glen Archery Society – £147,160 to extend the existing clubhouse to accommodate an indoor archery area.
  • Lutterworth Athletic Football Club – £45,780 complete the building of a club and community hub that will encompass health and wellbeing education, mental health support, exercise and diet, counselling and treatments.
  • Lutterworth Town Council – £45,780 to change the internal layout of the pavilion that will encompass community health and wellbeing activities.

Chair of the Cabinet Sub Committee for Grants and Leader of Harborough District Council, Cllr Phil Knowles, said: “I am really pleased that we can direct this funding to the heart of our communities. By awarding this money we are supporting residents by improving much-loved local spaces and helping people with mental wellbeing.”
