Harborough pool bounces back into action

The bright blue and yellow giant Atlantis inflatable bounces into the newly refurbished pool on Saturday 10 August for two exciting new regular sessions.

Inflatable pool sessions will be held each Saturday from 4-5pm and 5-6pm and can be pre-booked by visitors. Lifeguards have undergone specific training on the management of the new inflatable and will be on hand to supervise and ensure all users are correctly wearing a buoyancy aid, which will be supplied to all swimmers, to enjoy the full experience. 

The sessions are suitable for children and adults aged five years and above.  Visitors aged five, six and seven years old must be accompanied in the water at all times with an adult on a one-to-one basis. All visitors should be able to swim 25 metres (with a buoyancy aid) and be comfortable in deep water (1.8m). The sessions will be attended by an increased number of lifeguards and additionally monitored using underwater cameras for swimmers’ safety and support. 

The new Atlantis inflatable, which can also be pre-booked for pool parties, is welcomed as part of the ongoing refurbishment programme at Harborough Leisure Centre where pool upgrades have included a complete upgrade of the pool plant room, to deliver environmental savings and energy efficiencies, as well as new tiles, added SEN (Special Educational Needs) lighting over the much-loved Tiger Pool for sensory and disco sessions thanks to the council’s capital investment. 

Cllr Jo Asher, Harborough District Council’s Portfolio lead for Leisure said: “We’re pleased to extend the range of facilities and activities on offer at Harborough Leisure Centre and that the refurbishment continues on schedule. It’s wonderful that the pool has now re-opened to visitors with a super range of activities and sessions.

“With upgrades and developments being made across the centre, we hope that all local residents will find activities, group fitness, and exercise sessions to enjoy.”

“It has been brilliant to welcome back pool users at the centre this week, and feedback so far has been great – with the new immersive lighting in the snake slide proving to be especially popular this holiday period.”  

There has not been a giant inflatable available at Harborough pool for many years now so the new addition is sure to be well received.
