New banners showcase town's cultural offer
Published Monday 22 July 2024Market Harborough's iconic Symington Building has received a vibrant makeover with the installation of eye-catching banners adorning its façade.
This initiative aims to highlight the location of Harborough Museum and Market Harborough Library, along with other businesses housed within this historic landmark, while enhancing the visibility of Market Harborough's Cultural Quarter.
Located in the heart of Market Harborough's Cultural Quarter, The Symington Building has long been a focal point for locals and visitors alike. The addition of these new banners is expected to not only draw attention to the building's historical significance but also raise awareness of the diverse range of businesses it hosts.
Cllr Jo Asher, Cabinet lead for Culture, Leisure, Economy and Tourism, said: “The Symington Building is a cherished landmark in Market Harborough, and these new banners will further enhance its appeal as a cultural hub. By promoting the museum, library, and other businesses housed within the building, we are celebrating our town's heritage and encouraging residents and tourists to discover the treasures it holds."
This project has received full funding of £4,001 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
