Affordable homes approved in Market Harborough

Plans to build 27 affordable new houses and bungalows on land north of Tymecrosse Gardens in Market Harborough have been approved.

The plans include a mix of housing ranging from one to four-bedroom properties with on-site parking.

Affordable housing is that which can be rented or purchased at a lower rate than housing on the open market.

The development will provide a series of section 106 contributions, totalling approximately £170,000, to cater for the needs of residents with regards to nearby schools, children and young people facilities and infrastructure provision.

There will also be open spaces and managed landscaping as part of the development.

Action approved to protect land in Claybrooke Parva

Action to protect land in Claybrooke Parva, which prevents unpermitted temporary buildings and structures, has been confirmed by Harborough District Council’s planning committee.

On 13 October 2020, Harborough District Council served an Immediate Article 4 Direction, through a Town and Country Planning Order, on a 1.5 hectare area of land at Wells Close, Woodway Lane, Claybrooke Parva.

The Direction removes a specific permitted development right, which means the landowner would need to obtain planning permission for temporary buildings and structures. The purpose of this is to help protect the character and appearance of the area.

A period of consultation followed; no responses were received, and no new considerations were put forward following the Article 4 Direction.

The Direction was therefore confirmed by Harborough District Council’s planning committee on 2 March 2021.

The Direction follows the granting of planning permission by the Council in September 2020 for stables and barn on a smaller part of the land.
