Festive winter scene brought to life in town centre
Published Thursday 10 December 2020Just in time for the Christmas season, a wintery window scene has been brought to life in Market Harborough.
The installation can be found on Church Street in the town centre, the home of many of our wonderful independent retailers, and aims to promote Visit Harborough and encourage people to ‘shop local’.
The concept first came about from the Harbs Collective retail group in Market Harborough to incorporate a fun, interactive and artistic piece as a town centre attraction.
It was brought to life by local business Izzika Design & Print, who have put great effort into creating an aesthetically pleasing addition to the picturesque Church Street. They also teamed up with The Flower Bar at the Eco Village in Market Harborough who have created the beautiful floral installation.
It is hoped this will be the first of many installed on the street and become a staple feature of the town centre.
A vacant unit on the street has been utilised to improve the appearance of the street and further publicise the local shops and unique retailers and cafes we have across the town centre.
Further to this, some festive signage will be installed across Lutterworth and Market Harborough, encouraging people to ‘shop local’ this Christmas.
As well as ensuring that people remain safe while shopping, maintaining social distancing, wearing face coverings, and regularly washing hands, the display aims to promote the ‘local small business experience’ during the festive season. It is a chance to shop for unique and personal gifts in a relaxed and enjoyable way, a far cry from the Christmas crowds.
