Tourism summit planned to tackle current challenges
Published Tuesday 3 November 2020A virtual tourism summit is set to bring together hospitality businesses in the district to share ideas on how to overcome the challenges of the current coronavirus pandemic.
Local tourism and hospitality organisations are being invited to join the Harborough District Tourism Summit on Tuesday 17 November, from 10am to 12:30pm, hosted by Harborough District Council.
The summit will be hosted online due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The event will focus on the severe challenges faced by hospitality businesses and local attractions, in light of the pandemic, discuss how the Council and other organisations can work collectively to rebuild the local tourism sector, looking to 2021 and beyond.
A representative from Leicestershire County Council will also be joining the event to provide an update on the Leicestershire Tourism Growth Plan.
Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “This has been a very challenging year for many businesses, especially those in the tourism industry. We want to work with businesses to develop plans to rebuild this crucial sector, which has a huge impact on the local economy and provides many local jobs. This is a great opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of tourism in Harborough district.”
