Council to sell former allotments site
Published Friday 11 September 2020Land owned by the Council, which had been earmarked for more than 70 new homes, is being put up for sale.
After considering options for the land, Harborough District Council’s Cabinet agreed on 8 September 2020 that the former allotment site at De Verdon Road in Lutterworth should be sold.
The Council said it is refocusing its priorities in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and agreed not to pursue the proposed housing project itself.
Councillors agreed that the land would be sold on the open market once a decision on planning consent for the housing development is made. Cabinet also agreed the Council would undertake the archaeology works at the site if planning consent is granted.
