More play areas to benefit from new equipment
Published Monday 21 January 2019More play areas across the Harborough district are to be improved and updated with new and exciting equipment being installed to encourage a range of activities.
Harborough District Council has just introduced state of the art play equipment at play areas in Fleckney, Great Glen and Market Harborough – with play areas in Lutterworth and Broughton Astley to be revamped later this year.
The new play equipment promotes sensory play, educational play, fitness play and ‘non-prescriptive play’ which allows children to communicate at their own pace in an unstructured way.
It also includes inclusive play equipment which is suited to disabled children.
Councillor James Hallam, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for finance and assets, said: “This fantastic new play equipment is transforming play areas for families across the district and I’m delighted we are set to continue our programme of investment and improvements to play areas in Lutterworth and Broughton Astley.”
The six play areas which have just been completed are Cromwell Road in Great Glen, Edward Road in Fleckney, Sherrard Road in Market Harborough, Roman Way in Market Harborough, Burford Green in Market Harborough, and Goodwood Close in Market Harborough.
In recent years, the Council has carried out improvements to the Devitt Way play area in Broughton Astley, Cottage Lane play area in Broughton Astley, Mitchell Grove play area in Scraptoft, and Welland Park play area in Market Harborough.
