Memorial safety testing
Published Thursday 6 December 2018Harborough District Council is to carry out a headstone survey for safety reasons in line with Ministry of Justice guidelines.
The church yards and cemeteries to be surveyed include:
- Broughton Astley
- Kibworth
- Billesdon
- Skeffington
- Bringhurst
- Great Bowden
- Great Easton
- Blaston
The inspections will begin early in 2019. Any memorials found to be unsafe will have a notice placed next to them informing of the instability. Any found to be dangerous will also be either supported using temporary stakes / cordoned off or laid down as appropriate.
The memorial owner is responsible for any remedial work required and will be contacted if necessary.
