Community and Volunteers Fair hailed as success
Published Tuesday 28 August 2018A Community and Volunteers Fair, organised by Neil O’Brien, MP for Harborough, and Harborough District Council, has been hailed a success.
The MP and Council worked together with a range of charities, community and voluntary groups to showcase the work underway across the district and also appeal to new volunteers to join their causes.
The Fair, held in the town square on 25 August 2018, was attended by a range of groups including Voluntary Action South Leicestershire, Harborough in Bloom and the Royal British Legion.
Neil O'Brien said: “This was a fantastic day to showcase the excellent work underway across the district. I’d like to thank the different groups who joined us on the day to share their work and showcase just how much is happening across Harborough. Volunteers can make a huge difference to their communities, so I’d certainly encourage anyone who is keen to get involved in the good work, to do so. Charities and community groups are always in need of extra hands, so please do get in touch to see how you might be able to support their invaluable work.”
Neil Bannister, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “This was an excellent example of partners working together to offer an insight into what can be achieved through volunteering.”
