Ordering household bins in Harborough District

The quickest and most efficient way to place a bin request is by completing these online forms. Any telephone enquiries to customer services will be prioritised in relation to other council services and therefore may experience a longer response time. Please note that there are currently no face-to-face customer service appointments available. Should you require additional support to complete these online applications you can make a telephone appointment with customer services during stand office hours.

The Garden Waste collection is an optional green bin collection service. You can order a green bin or subscribe to the service here.

Before you place your bin request you will need to know the size of the bins you currently have, if applicable.

The size of the bin you can order at your property will depend on what you already have and your household size. See below the standard and maximum bin capacities based on household size:

Blue lidded wheeled recycle bin: Suitable for:
Standard size: 240L All households of 5 or more people living at the address full time.
Slim size: 140L Single or low occupancy households or households with less space to store a wheeled bin.

 

Black lidded wheeled household waste bin: Suitable for:
Standard size: 180L Standard households.
XL size: 240L Only for households of 5 or more people living at the address full time – verification will be required during the application process.
Slim size: 140L Single or low occupancy households or households with less space to store a wheeled bin.

Harborough District Council has taken the Climate Emergency Pledge to reduce emissions and tackle climate change across the district. You can do your bit to fight climate change by reducing waste and encouraging household recycling as much as possible.

  • Household waste is removed and taken to landfill sites.
  • Blue bin waste is sorted and recycled, reducing dependence single use plastics, and other high waste packaging.
  • Green bin, garden waste is windrow processed and the compost is used locally on gardens, on brownfield sites, in landscaping & agriculture.
