Flood wardens

Volunteer as a community flood warden to provide a vital role in assisting and protecting people and their homes from the impact of flooding, whilst learning ways to help your community become more resilient.

You can make the role your own, but tasks often include:

  • Monitor local conditions and report risks to responsible authorities
  • Distribute flood related information to residents and raise awareness of flood risks to the local community
  • Encourage residents to sign up to the Environment Agency Flood Warning System
  • Sign post residents to responsible authorities
  • Raise assistance requirements to responsible authorities on behalf of the local community
  • Report number of flooded properties to responsible authorities
