Gambling Act 2005 – Consultation on draft Statement of Principles

Harborough District Council as the Licensing Authority issued its Statement of Principles under Gambling Act 2005 in 2015 and that statement is now due for renewal. The changes are minimal and include an update regarding population numbers, a new paragraph on local risk assessments and amended wording for a Temporary Use Notice.

The policy acts to guide the process of determining applications for premises licences under the act. The issue of Operators Licence and Personal Licences are dealt with by the Gambling Commission.

The Gambling Act aims to promote three key objectives to enable more freedom for business operators and customers, whilst clamping down on crime and disorder and protecting children and the vulnerable.

We are inviting local people and businesses to comment on the draft statement.

The Statement of Gambling Policy will be published in January 2019.
