Harborough District Council’s Flood Support Grant

Whilst the Government’s National Flood recovery Grant Scheme has not been activated, we recognize the impact the heavy rain on the 6 January 2025 had on our residents and at the Council meeting of the 24 February 2025 members approved a flood support scheme for residents impacted by internal flooding of their homes.

If you have been affected by the floods on the 6 January 2025 and internal habitable rooms were flooding you can apply for a one off £500 recovery grant by completing this form.

Harborough Residential Recovery Grant Payment of £500

This is a one-off payment to support residents who have been internally flooded over the qualifying period.

Eligibility

  • You must reside in the property as your main residence, and
  • Your property must have been internally impacted by flooding and habitable living areas in your home damaged by flooding on the 6th January 2025, and
  • The property must be reported to Leicestershire County Council to get a full picture of properties impacted by flooding. You can report flooding issues to the County Council using this online form: 

The following buildings are usually not eligible for the scheme:

  • garages
  • outhouses and storage areas
  • second homes
  • empty homes
  • basements or cellars not used as part of the habitable of a property.

Second homes or empty homes at the time of the flood will not be eligible.

Application process

  • Complete online application form (paper copy can be posted out if necessary)
  • Upload supporting information including but not limited to:
    • Dated photographic/video evidence
    • Insurance claim documentation
    • Confirmation of bank details with corresponding property address
  • Apply for the grant online

What you should expect from us

Once submitted, we will determine whether you are eligible for the grant payment. If successful, payment will be made to the bank account details provided on this form as soon as possible. We may need to contact you if further information is required to process your claim.
